If you name the post using the topic at hand (like Fall Senior Portraits) then you don’t need to think about the list. Your list may only be a list of a few adjectives and locations.

Just how large should your keyword list be?

In fact, it makes them less findable since they will be optimized for one keyword (your URL) instead of the hundreds of photo-related keywords you would use to accurately describe a photos.

I’m sorry to say, Zach, but it seems you do not understand my question completely. It’s clear to me not to add a business name in the file name of an image I place on my own website. Keywords are more important, here.
But what to do with the extensive reports I deliver to my clients? No use for adding keywords here, I guess? I find that many clients forget to rename my images so my website-URL will be spread widely if I [batch]rename it in. So will my website-URL like: ©-www.robertaarts.com-091114-001.jpg do any good for SEO at all? In other words: will Google notice that my website-URL is published on many websites and will Google give me credit for this.

So you are saying that a business name in the filename of an image is not interesting for SEO?

A watermark is the best way for identifying copyrighted work.

By the way, at images.google.com you can click the little camera icon in the search bar to upload a photo and Google will show you all the places that photo is used.

As you told Kwanza, we do not need our name in the photos. Maybe not in the ones published on our own websites but what about the large amount of photos that a photographer sent to its customers? These ‘Messages in bottles’ will be spread widely over the internet by them. So I wonder if there’s a way to gain advantage of this ‘Free Rides’.

Now I wonder if there’s any SEO profit to make for images I deliver to my customers? I find most clients forget [or don’t border] to rename the images I deliver and publish them on the internet right away. For the last two years I name my images like ©RobertAarts_091114_001.jpg and when I enter Robert Aarts in Google  and select images, tons of my images appear. Kind of makes me curious if there’s a way to improve this. Would you think ©-www.robertaarts.com-091114-001.jpg is more Google friendly and emphasizes the existence of my website?
